I read “Alissa”. This story is about a poor girl.
One day, she read a book in her room. She likes reading very much. Then, her father said ‘My friend has work for you in the city. There isn't any work here in the village. You mast go with him.’ She went to school in her village and had a lot of friend, so she was sad very much. However she must obey her father. She looked the moment the friend of Alissa's father gave some money to her father. Alissa was angry and felt sad.
She worked at the clothes shop in the city. She worked all day with making clothes. She worked 12 hours in a day. At night, she slept in the floor. Each month the shop owner gives her a little money. Alissa bought a book with her money and read it after lunch.
The owner asked her ‘Can you write? Can you count?’ She said ‘Yes, I can.’ The shop owner take her in the shop and said ‘You are going to work in the shop.’
Alissa started to work in the shop and served the customers. There was a lady who always smiled at Allisa. One day, she left her purse in the shop. Alissa took the purse to the lady. However the owner was angry with Alissa because she went out of the shop arbitrarily. Alissa cried. Then, the lady run to the shop owner and said ‘Alissa is an honest girl. She won't work. Pack your things Alissa, let's go home together’ Alissa went with the lady and went to her new home. She lived happy with the lady.
I think Alissa is sorry girl but very lucky girl. I wish her happiness.

I read American Life.
Most people around the world know something about American life. We can see American movies on TV, listen to American music, and eat in American restaurants.
Of course, Americans are not all the same. The United States of America is a big coutry. There are many different ways of life. New York City is one of the most exiting and famous city in the world, but life there is not the same as life in a small American town. I saw the many faces of American life in this book.
Do you know how many people move to the U.S. every year? The answer is 750,000! Recently, many different kinds of people lived in the U.S. In 1798, more than 60% came from Britain, Ireland, Germany, and France. About 20% came from Africa, but they were slaves. Between 1880 and 1914, most immigrants cane from south and west of Europe. Today, most immigarants are from Latin America and Asia.
America is a big country. Americans loves their cars. There are 200,000,000 cars on the road. Only 5% of Americans catch buses and trains to work. In most states, American can drive when they are sixteen. Life without cars is difficult. Schools, stores, and work are usually a long way from home. When I visited the United States, I saw a lot of Japanese cars. When I saw them, I felt that Japan and America are close. In Montana, on some roads, you can drive as fast as you can. I want to go and drive there someday!
We can watch American movies in Japan. American movie-makers make about 570 movies each year. Not only American people but also people in many other countries love these movies.
Today, the name Hollywood means movies. Before 1910, Hollywood was only a small town near Los Angeles. Movie-makers moved there from New York because they wanted the Californian sun. Their job was easier with good weather.
There are many differences between American life and Japanese life. But I like both of them. I want to visit to America again.

Guccio Gucci, who was a creator of Gucci, was born in 1881 in Florence, Italy. When he was 19 years old, he went to London and England and worked at the famous Savoy Hotel. There were rich people who wore nice clothes and jewelry in the hotel and he often saw these people. It gave him many ideas for his future.
In 1901, he went back to Florence and met Aida Calvelli who became his wife. Aida made clothes and he learned about money and customers and gradually he wanted to sell leather products so he found a new job. One Sunday in 1921, he and Aida went for a walk around Florence and saw a little store and he wanted to have a store. Then, he bought a little store.
Guccio and Aida had six children, five sons and one daughter. Everybody in my family helped at the store. Guccion and Aida made luggage and leather products for horses and sold them and their children took packages to customers on their bikes. One day, Guccio had a good idea. He wanted to use the designs of the leather products for horses and make handbags, so the famous Gucci GG logo came from a strap and the Gucci lines of green/red/green came from the design of a horse's saddle.
Many people liked these products and in 1937, he moved the company to a larger place. The Gucci logo became famous in Italy. Gucci became more and more famous and the family opened a store in Rome.
Guccio wanted all of sons to work for the company but one of the sons died when he was nine years old and the other son wasn't interested in the family company. He liked movies and he became a movie actor.
In 1953, Guccio Gucci died and gave the company to his sons. His sons opened a store in New York. Gucci name was very famous and meant beautiful Italian fashion around the world.
In the 1960s, one of his sons made Gucci a greater success in the United States. He opened stores in Chicago, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills and in 1965, he opened the first Gucci store in Japan.
In the 1970s and in the 1980s, Gucci products became very famous and rich people wore Gucci clothes and used Gucci products. Gucci became too famous so the Gucci logo went out of fashion; however, today, Gucci is in fashion again.
Maurizio, who was the last of the family at Gucci, was shot outside of his office by somebody. He worked hard for two years but he died. Many people talked about it and it was very big news. In the case, Patrizia Reggiani Marintelli, who was Maurizio's wife from 1976 to 1990, wanted more money from him and she paid people and they killed Maurizio for her. Patrizia and they are now in prison.
Now Gucci is very famous!! Gucci has fashion shows and Gucci has a famous fashionroom in Florence, Italy. Also, Gucci sells its perfumes and we can see Gucci productions on the newspaper or on the Internet. Many people wear Gucci clothes and have Gucci products and Gucci is loved by people around the world.
I also like Gucci. Gucci products are cute and we can use them for a long time. I didn't know who was creator of Gucci. He started a little store and he succeeded. It is great and I think Gucci will become famous more and more.

I read Animal in Danger.
There are more than thirty million species of the animal in the world but some of these species disappear every year and we never see them again. If all animals disappear in the world, what happen to us? I think we can't live without animals. We are given many things from animals so we have to help them because people and animals live in one world and protecting animals is protecting our world.
A million years ago, there were many species of animals than there are now. It is natural that some species disappear but recently its speed is faster than before. Weather is changing and it affects their extinction. Also, making new roads, moving rivers, or taking away trees affects their extinction. Animals are in danger because human beings damage their ecology and because of natural accidents.
Some dolphins live in rivers and some live in the sea. Recently, environment of the water changed. Most of river and sea became dirty so dolphins can't see well in the water. There is much noise in the water so they can't talk with other dolphins. This changing is by human beings.
There are birds which are needed to help by people, for example, Kakapos. They can't live with people or other animals. They can't have many babies and they can't fly like other birds. People protect them and they prepare quiet place for Kakapos. Then they can make new house and can live freely.
In the world, there are many kinds of animals but recently many animals are in danger. People have to think it and we must act for them. If we aren't change our life style, maybe many kinds of animals will die. Animals are very important for people and our life. Also, I think I have to think about animal and their life.

I read a book called The Lottery Winner. Emma Carter was seventy-three years old and did not have much money. One day, she was walking home happily with her new shoes. Suddenly, she got in trouble. Somebody ran up behind her, hit her on the head, and snatched her bag out of her hands. She saw a tall young man with long, dirty brown hair. This man's name was Jason Williams. He stole a little money and a lottery ticket from Emma. He was angry because there weren't lots of money.
One day, he opened a newspaper and found the winning lottery numbers: 5, 12, 23, 24, 38, 41. He checked the lottery ticket. Six winning numbers! The lottery ticket which he stole from Emma had winning numbers. He was a winner. He got a cheque from Sunshine Lotteries for five million pounds!
Emma was watching TV and saw Jason. She found the guy who snatched her bag and her lottery ticket. She called a police. Police caught Jason and asked him many questions. However Jason lied. He wanted five million pounds so he asked for lawyer's help! However, he didn't notice that the lawyers are expensive! At the end of court, all money will go to lawyers.

This story was interesting. I wanted all money would back to Emma Carter. However, all money would go to expensive lawyers! This ending is very sad to Emma because if Jason hadn't stolen a bag from Emma, all money would be Emma's! I don't like a guy like Jason. He is such a bad person!

I read a book called Hotel Casanova. Dino was a main character in the story. He worked at the reception of the Hotel Grand. He was twenty one years old. He had a plan. The plan was that he would get married when he became twenty six years old and he would have his own hotel when he became thirty years old. However, Carla Maretti changed his plans. When he met her, he fell in love with her! He thought about her all days. Carla also liked him so they got married. Carla bought a hotel for Dino. He was very happy until he found out that Carla didn't want him to go anywhere without her. He also found out that Carla had a husband and she killed him before Carla and Dino got married. Carla was a very crazy woman! He wasn't happy with her anymore. A week went by, Dino needed some new waiters and waitresses for his hotel. Maria Luca, the girl who worked with him at the Hotel Grand, came there. Dino was very happy to see her and was glad to work with her again. They fell in love. Carla was very angry about it. One day, Dino decided to leave the hotel with Maria. They got a gondola. Carla wanted to kill Dino and Maria. However, the fireboat went into Carla's hotel boat. Carla and the hotel boat went down into the dirty waters of the Grand Canal.

I enjoyed the story. I liked some sentences. They were "Sometimes you must take what life gives you." and "We just see what we want to see." I think these are true. I thought to love someone was difficult. If you were in love, everything looks perfect. I was glad Dino finally found his true love.

I read a book called The House on the Hill. Paul was a main character in this story. He lived in a small town and he was poor. He wanted to be a writer and work for a newspaper.
One day, he went for a walk and went down to the river. Suddenly he saw the girl named Maria. She was very beautiful and soon Paul fell in love. Maria said she liked Paul too. Paul asked her to marry with him but she looked very sad and ran away. He did not understand her. He went to the house on the hill with the servant. Maria's mother said to him that he couldn't marry Maria because he was poor. He was very sad. One day, he saw the newspaper that was about Maria's wedding. Her husband was old and fat. Paul turned the newspaper over angrily. He saw an advertisement about Story Competition on the back page of the newspaper. He decided to write his story for the competition. Two weeks later, a letter came from the newspaper. He won first prize! He also got the job. He loved his work on the newspaper. He worked hard. One day, a reporter came into the office and told everyone that Maria ran away from her husband and it killed her mother.
Paul went to her mother's funeral. Maria looked sad. Nobody spoke to her. He thought about her when he went home. He wanted to see Maria and wanted to talk to her. He went to the house on the hill. He was looking for Maria. She looked like her mother. She didn't like Paul. She only liked money. Paul didn't like Maria anymore.

I enjoyed the story. I don't like people who think money is the most important thing in the world. I think love is more important than money. I hope Paul can find his true love!

I read a book called Different Worlds. Samantha was a main character in the story. She was deaf. This story was about Sam's love story with Jim, who was not deaf. Jim was working at the shop across the road from her house. She watched him from her bedroom window. Until she first saw him, she didn't think very often about being deaf. However, after she saw Jim, she wanted to be like most other people. Every Saturday, she went to the shop to buy something. One day, she bought a newspaper. Jim talked to her but she was embarrassed to talk with him because she was deaf. She just smiled and left the shop. She felt sad.
Ron, Sam's best friend, knew about Jim so he invited her to go to a party. They went to a party and Sam saw Jim. Sam and Jim played with snow. They had a really good time until a girl in the red dress came.
Sam liked Jim and Jim liked Sam. They started going out. She was very happy being with him. However, the girl in the red dress told Sam that she was Jim's girlfriend before Sam. She told Sam about Jim's music band and she wanted Sam to stay away from Jim. Sam was very sad.
One night, Sam's mother invited Jim to have dinner at Sam's house. Jim told Sam about Lauren and his musical band. Jim loved Sam very much. At last, she was happy ever after.

This story was interesting. I could feel how deaf people were thinking. I think it is very difficult for Sam and Jim to communicate. I thought it is like to communicate between people speak other languages. I often have problems speaking English. However, if we try to understand, we could understand well! The important thing to understand people is not only languages but also our hearts.

I read a book called A Christmas Carol. Scrooge was a main character in the story. He was a hard man and he loved money. He was a cold man and didn't have any friends. He didn't like Christmas. When someone said "Merry Christmas!" to him, he said "Humbug!" His nephew, Fred, invited him for a party, but he refused it. When two men visited his office to ask for money for poor people, he said he didn't want to give any money for them. He was mean to his clerk, Bob, and he didn't give him much money, holidays and much coal for fire.
One time, three ghosts visited him. They show him his past life, his life now, and a possible future.
The ghost of past Christmas showed him Scrooge in the past. He watched his past life. He was very excited. Little Scrooge was enjoying Christmas very much. Scrooge was a very nice young man.
The ghost of Christmas now showed him Scrooge in now. He watched Bob's family. They were very poor but they were very happy. Tiny Tim was the youngest child of Bob. He was very small for his age. The boy was very ill. Ghost told Scrooge that Tiny Tim will die in the future. Next place was Fred's house. The party seemed very fun and Scrooge wanted to join them.
The ghost of future Christmas showed him Scrooge in the future. Unhappy man with unhappy life was dead. No one sad because of he was dead. The man was Scrooge. He learned from the past, from now and from the possible future. He decided to be kind at Christmas. He would be kind all year. He would change his future!
It was Christmas. He saw the man who visited his office. Scrooge gave him money. In afternoon, he visited Fred's house. It was a wonderful party with lovely food and games, and everybody was very, very happy. Next morning, Scrooge told Bob that he would give him more money and he would help him with his family. Scrooge told Bob to put more coal on the fire and he could take some coal into his room.
Tiny Tim did not die. Scrooge was a good man and a good friend. He always had a good time at Christmas and he never said "Humbug!" again.

I enjoyed the story very much. It was nice to see how Scrooge changed after three ghosts visited him. No one is happy to live alone.

I read a book called Heidi. Heidi was a main character in the story. Heidi lived with her grandfather in his little wooden house, high up in the mountains of Switzerland. She loved living there. Peter was Heidi's good friend. They climbed up the mountain with the goats. Heidi loved Peter's grandmother. She loved to talk with her. She loved her life in the mountain. One day, her aunt, Dete, came and took Heidi to Clara's home in Frankfurt. Clara liked Heidi and Heidi liked Clara. They soon became good friends. However, Heidi wanted to go back to the mountains. She missed everything in the mountains. Clara's grandmother was nice to Heidi. She taught her how to read. She told Heidi that if she cannot tell somebody, she can talk to God and ask for his help. She told God that she really wanted to go back to her grandfather's home. Since Heidi was unhappy, she was walking in her sleep! The doctor told Mr. Seemann that they should send Heidi home. Heidi was very happy to go home again. She brought some nice white bread for Peter's grandmother. They were very glad to see each other again! Heidi's grandfather was happy too! Heidi and her grandfather started to go to the church! They moved to an old house near the church for Heidi's school at the winter. After the winter, they went back to the mountain. One day, Clara visited Heidi with her grandmother! Clara became to like mountains! Peter was not friendly to Clara at first because he didn't like Heidi to have other friends. He pushed Clara's wheelchair down the mountain so she wouldn't be able to go to mountains with them. Clara's wheelchair was broken so she had to walk with some help. Finally, she could walk with her feet! Everyone was very happy!

I enjoyed the story very much. When I was a little girl, I loved watching the animation of Heidi. It is a very warm story. I would love to go to Switzerland and eat cheese!

Harvey family was Duncan, a father of children, Grandma, and children. Children's mother, Miranda, was dead two years ago. Nobody talked about Miranda. Harvey family had secrets. Cathy liked kids but she felt uncomfortable at Harvey's house. She wanted to know why Miranda was dead. She met Nick and she started to like him. However, he and Juliet, Miranda's young sister, were in love. Cathy was shocked because they didn't tell about it to her. Cathy wanted to talk to Nick about Miranda. She wanted him to tell her about it. She was waiting for Nick on the beach. Duncan came there too. He told a story that Miranda liked Nick. Nick liked all women. Cathy didn't like Nick anymore. At the house, Cathy, Duncan and Mrs. Harvey talked about Miranda. Mrs. Harvey killed her with her stick. Now, Cathy knew everything about the Harvey family. There was nothing more to be afraid of.

I enjoyed the story. I like mystery story like this. It was very interesting story because I couldn't guess who was a criminal. I was very surprised because grandmother killed Miranda. I was very sorry for her. I didn't like Nick because he was a play boy.

I read a book called The Cay. Philip, a young white American boy, was a main character in the story. He lived on the Dutch island of Curacao. At the time, there was fighting all round the world. Philip's mother, Grace, wanted to go back to Virginia with Philip. One Friday morning, Philip and his mother rode the SS Hato, a small and smoky Dutch ship. Two days after they left Curacao, the Germans attacked the SS Hato. There was a big explosion. They rode a lifeboat then something hit Philip hard on the head. A long time later, Philip opened his eyes. There was a bad pain in his head. There was a very big, old black man next to him. His name was Timothy. They were the only two people in the lifeboat. While they were in the lifeboat Philip went blind. One day, they found the island. It was the Cay. They started to live there and waited for help. Philip was afraid when he was alone because of his blind eyes. Philip thought he couldn't do anything without Timothy. Timothy knew what Philip thought. Timothy helped Philip. Sooner, Philip could do almost everything by himself. After strong winds, Timothy was dead. Philip was very sad but he could do live by himself now. One day, a plane found him and he could go back to his father and mother again! In a hospital in New York, Philip saw some of the best doctors in the State and he started to see again!

This was a nice story. I thought Philip was a brave boy. I liked the relationship between Philip and Timothy.

I read a book called The Story of the Treasure Seekers. Oswald is a main character in the story. The Bastable family had money before but they were poor now, so they started to look for treasure. Each of the six brothers and sisters had a different idea, so they tried out their ideas one at a time. When they are looking for treasure, they meet many interesting people and a lot of exciting things happen. Noel liked to write poems. He wanted to sell his poems and get money for his family. In the train, they met Mrs. Leslie. She was a nice woman and liked Noel's poems. At a park, they tried to get money from Lord Tottenham. One night, there were robbers at their house. Actually, a robber was their friend's friend. One day, there was a visitor, the Indian Uncle. Children thought he was poor so they welcomed him their lunch. The Indian Uncle was very happy about it. Actually, He was very rich. The Indian Uncle invited everyone to live with him in his big house. Children looked for treasure, and they found a good uncle. That was the best treasure.

The story was very interesting. Many things happened in the story. I thought children were kind because they wanted to help their father. I was happy for them because they could get the best treasure at last! I liked the story very much.

She soon started to like him. She found her true love and realized that she didn't love Tom. However it was difficult to love George because he was an asylum seeker and Nancy was a guard. She couldn't stop her love to George. George also liked Nancy. Nancy decided to leave Tom to be with George. She against the rule and gave him her phone number. She moved in a small flat. Her best friend, Harriet, wanted Nancy to come to her wedding in Scotland so she went there. When she came back to her flat, she found that her room was very messy. Some of her things were not there. Some one stole her CD player, her small television, her gold watch and her passport. She called George but he didn't answer. Nancy felt very bad and sad. Police tried to find him. One day, Harriet invited Nancy to her party. Tom was there and he asked Nancy to go to their old house. She was too ill to say no. In the sitting room, she found her gold watch! Tom took her things! She was very angry. It was not George but Tom! At last, Nancy could find George! She was very happy to see George again!

I enjoyed the story very much. I thought it was very great to be with the person you really love. I think it is difficult to tell if the person is your true love or not. Nancy had some problems but she could get through everything. To love someone is very wonderful thing. (358words)

I read Rip Van Winkle written by Washington Irving. I learned about him at the American literature class.

This story’s main character is Rip Van Winkle. He lives in a foot of the Catskill Mountain. He is very friendly, and do work for his friends not for him. His wife is very harsh with him, but he is patient and obedient. One day he climbed the Catskill Mountain, and hunt animals. When it got dark, he decided to go home, on the way to going his home, he saw a strange man climbing the mountain. He helped him. Rip and the strange man went to the amphitheater, and there were many strange men. They played ninepin there and drank very strong alcohol. Rip got sleepy and take a nap, next morning he got up, and he become to be an old man. He looked for his house, but there was nothing any more. Some of his friends and his wife were dead, but his children were alive, and he would live with his daughter and her family happily.

He was very surprised and said "help".He said "The key is glowing" and ran outside and looked it for Biff and Chip. When they were playing with Wilf and Wilma at there. Magic was started. Everybody got smaller and smaller. They were in the grass, and everything looked very big. It was like a jungle. Little time ago, they came out of the jungle, and went into mountain. It's mountain was very big. And then, everyone got to the top, but Kipper didn't like climbing mountains.So, he was hot. Everyone looked at the sand, it looks like a desert. Kipper was disappointed it.
However, Wilma found the toy car, and she said "we can ride down to the desert". The car stopped in the sand, suddenly,there is big cat at there. Everyone climbed inside a bottle. The cat pushed the bottle. Floppy chased the cat away. Everyone out of the bottle. They walked over the desert. Everyone felt hot. So, they were very tired. Wilf said "look". there was Giant strawberrys. Everyone ran to eat that. It began to rain. It was a very big drops.Kipper said"I feel sick now." They found giant flowerpot. So, they ran to a giant flowerpot. They hid under it. The key began to glow. The magic was over.

This story is very fun for me. I think that I want to experience it.

This book is about adventure.
Story is that the children were in cellar. They wanted to find a secret tunnel in the cellar. They looked everywhere, and tappd on the floor,and walls.But, there was no tunnel. It's bad, they said. A boy ran to the there, he had the magic key, it was very glowing. And, they ran to his bedroom. It's time for a magic adventure. Then, they were taken at underground, it was a big tunnel. In there, there were elves in the there, but they were very shy. And, children went down the tunnel, and they didn't see the elves. children came to a big cave, elves looked at them. The cave had a echo, So, children shouted one after the other. And, the elves laughed and laughed. The after, they came out the children, "hello" they said. And everyone shouted and laughed.
Elves were sad, thay had no work. they are embarrassed. Then, children had a good idea. they told the elves what it was. elves liked their idea, and painted some signs. And, elves put lights in the caves, cave looked beautiful. People came to see the caves. Elves was very happy.
I want to go adventure, and I want t find elf.

I read “stories of princes and princesses”.
Chapter 1
This book’s story is that there is Colin in the kingdom. He was the clumsiest. Other prince fought dragon, but he fell down dragon. So, he was not good prince. In that day, he tripped in front of a sorrowful princess. And she thought that he is very funny, and wants to marry with him. But her father knew Colin would not pass, so, he gave Colin three tests. First test is that he has to show how polite he could be. Next test is that he has to take the princess out. But, he couldn’t both tests. The day night, he couldn’t sleep. And he heard a princess’s scream. And he leaned out of his window and sent a flower pot flying. And it fell down the head of the man stealing the princess. Colin can help princess. From then on, her father allows to get marry with Colin. So, he lived awkward, but happily ever after.

Chapter 2
This chapter’s story is that in the country, there is the prince. He is Percy. He was the rudest and dirtiest, smelliest. And he lived in dirty old castle, of course, by himself, because, he didn’t like children and animals. And he didn’t have friends. But until one day… he would capture a princess and marry her. But Percy was very angry, because he was talking her home when they passed some moles. There were mole hills all over his field. From then on, he locked her in a tower. But she had already agreed to marry the other people. But he couldn’t get into his castle. And the moles decided to help Percy. The moles dug all night. It runs all the way under the moat and into the castle. Then he went to find Percy and the princess. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Harry’s soldiers decided Percy needed a bath to Percy’s surprise, he found being clean was fun. And the other people were very friendly for him. And he could get marry.

I think that it is very important that we clean. And we have to be playing well together. I learned both things.

In their house, a lot of cats are going to enter the house whose is lived by the girl and the boy. At first, the children want to let the cats out of the house, but the cats can run faster than they do. Therefore, the cats act up in the house, and bother the children. One day, the cats disappear. The girl and the boy feel lonely, and want the cats to come back again. The children try to find the cats, but there is no cat any more. The boy finds some trails of the cats in front of the door. Finally, the cats come back the house and they have good time with the children.

This story is that the children were outside. A hot air balloon went by. Mrs. May had a secret. She told Wilf what it was.　It was time to watch television. The television went wrong. May was very embarrassed. And the photocopier went wrong, the computer went wrong. Wilf and Wilma came home, and they had a letter. It was that the school wanted money. Then, Wilf had an idea. Everyone liked the idea. And everyone bought tickets. Of course, May bought a ticket. But she bought lots of, because, she wanted to go in the balloon. May won the prize. She won a ride in the balloon. And, she went up in the balloon. When, she saw the stream. She saw the house. She looked down at the park, then took a photograph. The after, the school have a lot of money, and bought lot of things. May was pleased, and she gave wilf a present.
My home town is Saga. Saga is famous balloon. Especially, there is balloon festival at autumn. So, every year I can look it. It was very beautiful. Of course, I have been to ride a balloon. And I like the balloon.
